Seattle Sonics
This is really where it all began. In 2005, still gainfully employed by the NBA’s Seattle Supersonics, I somehow weaseled my way into writing the rich 40-year history of this now defunct franchise. For some reason I was a diva, saying I wanted to write the history my way, not a boring marketing document like most teams would do–for some reason they agreed.
I’m still shocked with the things they let me get away with writing in here, including criticizing team management and questioning refereeing decisions in what was essentially an NBA-certified magazine. That might have been the one benefit to having the sale of the team going down as I filed the story–the higher-ups who would have killed the piece had they read it, were to busy jockeying for position inside the new ownership group. So here it is, in PDF version, “40 Years, 40 Moments” an irreverant look at the team of my childhood and the place that first employed me.

As well as writing Soniczone Magazine’s central feature, I also edited the front of the book and created original content stat geeks and trivia buffs would love. Here are a couple examples from a few issues.
